i always wanted a child, though alas it will never be... long story, sad story.... i am always happy to hear someone is going to have a child, i hope only for a healthy child. leaving some sort of legacy that you were here and able to share what i have learned... and now i can buy toys again. it's tough to raise a child, but if the child comes out all right... it's all worth it.

Just last night I got confirmation that yet another friend is expecting. I've been to so many baby showers in the past year and am well on my way to just as many in 2012. It's definitely tough being on this side of it, but I just have to keep my faith in God and trust that he knows what he's doing with me.

I write this from multiple perspectives - a man, a dad and a guy who is suffering major depression. I love being a dad more than anything, but it's not for everyone. Being a parent changes your life, opens up new new avenues but closes others. As someone suffering through depression, I can say you can dig no worse hole than regretting choices you've made, or even worse, events that have or have not happened outside of your control.

I'm surprised anyone said to not have children. Even with all the work, they are worth it. But I agree, it would be very hard as a single parent.
